All Over the Place!

Friday, April 30, 2010

So this is going to be 'All Over the Place' due to my neglegence toward the blog. First of all, Luca is fifteen weeks, as of yesterday, and he is getting bigger every day. Right now Luca is taking over Max's beastly stature. He has the following of Max's features: the entire body, the hair, the dimples, and the lips. You ask what does the baby have of yours, Kelly? Well, he doesn't have much. He has the color of my eyes and my nose. That poor kid...he has his mom's little piggy nose. The kid is just a beast physically. He may not look big in the pictures, but when you see him in person...holy cow! He's huge! He eats like a normal 3 1/2 month old, which is 6 ounces every 4 - 41/2 hours. So lord, what happens when I start feeding him cereal and baby food? His thighs are twice the size of mine. Anyways, I love that he is big; there is just more for me to love then.

My sister, Rhianna, and I went shopping and got the baby this onesie that has The Godfather printed on the front. I thought it was a perfect fit because every person that I run into asks "What's your sons name?", and I obviously say, "Luca", and they reply with "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fish," which is from The Godfather. It's not like that saying is even a positive one because they end up whacking Luca in the movie. My little ten year old cousin, Anthony (pictures below), whom I watched today, even quotes that phrase. To make a long story short it was ironic that Buy Buy Baby (my favorite baby store) had a onesie like that to purchase. Not to jump around, but they also have American Idol onesies available as well, which I didn't start watching until this year for the first time. I'm voting for two people: Crystal Bowersox (a.k.a. Poosh Bowersox) and Lee Dewyze (he's from Chicago). Also on the reality kick, I'm voting for Evan Lysechek (spelling?) and Erin Andrews from Dancing With the Stars.

3 Months...1st Milestone

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Luca is three months old, and time has definitely gone by fast. He is growing and getting so big. Max and I think he is around 14 pounds. Funny story: Max and I wanted to see how much he weighed, so we kept putting him on the scale to see, which, by the way, he was not very happy about. The scale kept reading error, probably because he was too light. Anyways, we thought, oh well we'll just wait until his doctor appointment and see. My dad offered the suggestion of Max weighing himself first and then weighing himself and the baby together to see the difference in weight. DUH! Why didn't we think of that? I will blame it on the lack of sleep on my part, and I don't know what Max will blame it on. Anyways, he is now in 3-6 month clothing, and he won't be in it for that much longer due to his monster size. He definitely takes after Max in the size department. He's showing off his 'guns' in his cut-off onsie in the picture below. It's crazy how one minute Luca can go from smiling and laughing to pouting and crying. It's like what happened in that split second that triggered the bad mood. I know in one of the pictures I'm torturing him with a big monster stuffed animal that my brother got him, but that can't be it.

11 Weeks...3 Month Countdown

Thursday, April 1, 2010

I know that I keep posting his weekly birthday pictures, but I will stop doing the weeks and start doing the months. I just wanted to do this for the first three months, because I feel like he grew so fast. I cherish every moment that I get to spend with him because he is getting bigger, which is 'bitter sweet'. I love the whole newborn months and definitely miss the newborn little itty bitty clothing, but I am ready to see him grow and learn new things. I did, and I know it sounds ambitious, take him to see the Easter Bunny. I debated this back and forth because he was still too little, but in the end, I gave in and took him. My theory is: (and this may sound really hormonal) But what if I only get one chance to experience all these things? What if God only blessed me with one? If that is the case, I want to take every opportunity to make the most out of these memories and do as much as possible with him. So, below this entry you will see how cute my little bambino looks with the Easter Bunny.

Baby Luca is 10 Weeks!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Today is my 32nd birthday and Luca's 10 week birthday. He is the best birthday present that I could've ever gotten. I love watching him grow. I am now able to get him to smile for me, which is so awesome because he has the cutest dimples. Luca went through a fussy period, where I wasn't able to put him down without him crying, but now, he is getting past that. However, he does get fussy when he has gas. He still has all of his hair, and to be honest with you, I don't think he has lost any of it. I haven't found any of it laying around in his bed. I just can't believe how much he has grown. He is now starting to fit into 3 month clothing. Every day I have to pack a piece of clothing away that he could no longer wear. It kind of makes me a little sad :-(

9 Weeks and Going Backwards...What's Up With That?

Thursday, March 18, 2010

So I know that the baby is going through a growth spurt, and that is the reason for his schedule disruption. But, it is pure torture to make someone think they are going to be getting more sleep, and then it is just swept away from them. Luca was doing so good with his sleep patterns. He was going to bed around 10:00 p.m., and then sleeping through until about 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. Now he decided to throw Max and I through a loop and wake up around 1:30 a.m. for the past several nights. I keep telling myself every night 'this is going to be the night he gets back on schedule.' WRONG! It hasn't happened yet.

Heavy "L"

Friday, March 12, 2010

Today, Luca is 8 weeks and one day. We had his two month check-up and shots. So Max and I decided to throw a little bet on how much the baby weighed and how tall he was.

Me: "My guess is 10 pounds 8 ounces and 23 inches long. The reason for my guess was because infants gain about one pound a month."

Max: "My guess is 11 pounds 4 ounces and 24 inches long."

Me: "Are you kidding me; he does not weigh that much."

Nurse: "He is 12 pounds 3 ounces."

Max and I in unison: "Holy sh**...oh we didn't mean to swear. "

Me: "But he was only 9 pounds 4 ounces less than a month ago."

Me to the nurse: "Do you think he will be obese when he is older?"

Nurse (in her mind): "Um...shut up you weird freak!"

Anyways, he is perfectly normal. He is 12 pounds 3 ounces and in the 67 percentile. He is 23 inches long and in the 57 percentile. His head 33 centimeters and in the 14 percentile. Luca also got his shots today. It was hard for Max and I to watch him cry after the nurse jabbed him with the needle. Just kidding...she did it very gently.

Big Boy

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Today Luca is 7 weeks and 3 days, and he rolled over for the first time. We were by my parents house for Sunday dinner. I put the baby in the middle of the carpet on his tummy, and while we were all sittling there watching him, he just rolled from his tummy to his back. It was so awesome to see that for the first time, and everyone else was happy to see it as well. He is such a big boy!

The Story Of My Life: Luca At 6 Weeks

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Luca is 6 weeks old today, and he definitely has changed. First of all, he has outgrown all of his newborn clothing, and he is now in 0 - 3 month clothing. That is not the only thing that has changed...he now does not want to be put down. He constantly wants to be held, and if you put him down, he immediately starts to cry. The pictures below explain "The Story Of My Life". Notice that he is very peaceful when someone is holding him. When he is not being held, the tears start flowing. On a positive note, we are starting to get him on a schedule. We put him down now at 10:00 p.m. for the night, and he will sleep until 2:30 a.m. - 3:00 a.m., which is nice to get 4 - 5 hours of consecutive sleep. I just hope it sticks!

Luca, Ella, and Maxton

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Today, we had a play date with Ella and Maxton Vavrek. Ella is three and Maxton is three months. They are so cute. Luca had no idea, because he slept the entire time. I think the play date is more for us to socialize...obviously.

Happy Valentine's Day AND One Month Old...Already?

Sunday, February 14, 2010

First off...Happy Valentine's Day! Today, Luca is one month old. I can't believe how fast it went by. He grew so much within the past month. When he was born, he weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces, and he was 20 inches long. Then, when we left the hospital, he was obviously still 20 inches long, but he lost weight. He left the hospital weighing only 6 pounds 11 ounces. On Friday, we took him to his one month appointment, and he definitely grew a lot, which we knew, because we had pack some of his clothes away already. He now weighs 9 pounds 4 ounces, and he is 22 inches long. He is in the 38 percentile for his weight and 72 percentile for his height. Some of his clothes are still newborn clothing, but now he can fit in 0 - 3 month clothing.

It is hard to get pictures of him smiling, because he is not at the point where you can make him smile. He smiles randomly. As I was taking his one month pictures, I did get one of him smiling, and it is showing one of his dimples. It is the last picture on this post, but it may be a little blurry, because he moved as I was taking it.

Funny Story

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

My dog is hilarious. If you don't know Samurai, he is a very independent, loving, docile dog. As soon as I let him inside from playing outside, he immediately goes to the baby, sniffs the baby, and then lies two feet from the baby. Well, I was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and I let him inside. He ran downstairs to the family room where the baby was. I continued to cook dinner, and I heard a little dog whimper. I didn't pay any attention, because he does that from time to time. Well five minutes go by, and Samurai started to whimper again, and he wouldn't stop. So I went to the stairs, and I noticed that he was stuck to the swing. Somehow his collar got caught on the rattle connected to the swing. The swing was on, moving side to side. Every time it went from side to side, it hit him in the face. Poor dog! He sat there getting hit in the face for five minutes. I was laughing so hard. I took this picture after I shut the swing off. I wish I got it on video camera; I could've sent it to America's Funniest Videos.

LIL LINEBACKER

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Max and I dressed Luca up in a Bear's uniform in honor of the superbowl in which the Bears took no part of. He must have been giving us a sign, because as soon as we put his Bear's uniform on, he threw up all over it. So, we had to take it off, wash, and dry it, so he could wear it the rest of the day. He looked like a little linebacker.

How Long Does This "No Sleep" Business Last?

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

So, I can't believe that the baby will be three weeks tomorrow. It has been three weeks of no sleep. I totally did not think that getting "no sleep" would be that hard. I definitely think that is the hardest part about having an infant. During the day, he's awesome. He could go three to four hours without waking up, but during the night, he wakes up about every two and a half hours. What is that about? When will he switch his days and nights? How much longer will he stay this way? UGH! Anyways, it's all good, because he's totally worth it, and look at how cute he is. Look at the pictures below. Look at how peaceful he looks. Um...Yeah those were taken at about noon. He doesn't look that peaceful at 4:00 in the morning. His eyes are usually wide open, and he's ready to play. There are also pictures of the dog resting throughout the day, because the baby keeps him up at night. It's so funny because Samurai wakes up when I do to check on the baby. He sits in the baby's room with me while I feed him and put him back to bed. Samurai is Luca's second mom. Somebody definitely told Samurai to sleep when the baby sleeps.
