Happy Halloween! Check Out Our Pumpkin!

October 29, 2009 - 25 Weeks 1 Day

Since my 25th week fell during Halloween week, Max and I decided to have a little fun tonight, so we made a pumpkin out of my pumpkin looking belly. We definitley needed a lot of orange paint for this little bright idea we had. It took us maybe forty-five minutes to do this, but it was definitely worth it. I didn't think it would come out that good, but it did. I am really proud of Max's drawing; he sure was paying attention in first grade when drawing Jack-O-Lanterns were part of the curriculum.
Happy Halloween to everyone!

What the 9 Pounds???

October 20, 2009 - 23 Weeks 6 Days

Today, I went for my doctor's appointment. The first thing they do is weigh you. I always make Max sit outside until they are done weighing me. I gained 9 pounds from the last time I was in, which is a total of 15 pounds for the entire pregnancy. I couldn't believe how much I gained. I thought it was only going to be 4-5 pounds, at least that is what I was hoping. But no, I gained 9 pounds. Who am I kidding anyways, I should have known I gained a lot, especially with the latest cravings. Oh well! Now I can't wait for the next appointment; maybe I'll gain 20 pounds :-)

Cravings...My Nemesis

Saturday, October 17, 2009

For the first five months that I have been pregnant, I really haven't craved anything. Boy! Have times changed. Below are my favorite things to eat these days. I feel bad for Max, because he has been watching what he eats and has been working out only to find all this junk food in the house. His willpower is definitley tested.

I have to have a minnie snickers before I go to bed. (Only some nights)

These Extra Crispy Ore-Ida Fries are the bomb! I have to have these as a side dish with my lunch or dinner. (Only sometimes though)

If you like apple juice, the Mott's for Tot's is awesome. I drank the whole thing within two days. The tot's one has less sugar and is so good.

I definitely have to watch myself with this one: Lou Malnati's Deep Dish Pizza. I crave it a lot, but I have only had it twice. I really have to limit myself with this to special occasions, like Mondays and Tuesdays (Dancing with the Stars) and Fridays and Saturdays (The Weekend).

This one is a must, every night, right after dinner. I'm hoping the Affy Tapple is still going to be sold after Halloween. It was funny, because I was in line with another pregnant woman at the grocery store, and she had three packages of Affy Tapples. She said to me, "looks like were craving the same foods."

Stomach Flu

I knew I should have gotten the flu shot, because right now, I have the flu. Yesterday, I came home, from subbing, in a lot of pain. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I thought that it was maybe something I ate, but when I woke up this morning with the same thing, I called the doctor. I thought that the doctor or nurse would tell me to go to the emercency room, but a nurse ended up calling me back saying, "it sounds like you have a little intestinal bug." She wanted me to drink a lot of gatorade and to eat bland foods like, crackers, bread, toast, etc. My dad stopped over and brought me the necessities to get better. Max came home from work to take care of me, but I just ended up sleeping. Right now, I actually do feel good. I just hope that pain doesn't come back. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday for a regular check-up, so I think that I will ask them for the flu shot when I go.

One Day in the Mind of a Pregnant Woman...

October 6, 2009 - 21 Weeks 6 Days

One day in the mind of a pregnant woman...

I can't believe that girl just told me I was big. Who does she think she is talking to? Like I really want someone commenting on my weight. I know...I am pregnant. I know... I am big. It was probably that stupid cheeseburger I ate last night. I could totally go for one right now. Do I go to Portillo's or McDonald's? McDonald's is a lot closer, but Portillo's is so much better. If I feel like driving an extra block to Portillo's, maybe I'll take the dog for company. Shoot, if I take the dog in the car, then he'll get hair all over, and I'll have to vacuum when I get home. And when I do get home, Max will be there asking me why I didn't get him anything from Portillo's. Yeah right, why don't you get up an get your own? Do I always have to do everything around here? I swear getting Rock Band was the biggest mistake... except for the singing portion. I'm so good at singing I think that I should try out for American Idol. Speaking of American Idol, when does that start? Oh forget it, then that will be another show to DVR, and I need to catch up on A Baby Story. I wish they filmed A Baby Story in Illinois; I would totally sign up. Although, maybe I won't; some of the women on that show look so miserable when they give birth. Oh my God, I have to give birth?????????????

Husky Howler

October 1, 2009

On Saturday, Max and I took Samurai to a Husky Howler. It is like a fair for your dog; any breed is welcome. They have games, a costume contest, and they let the huskies pull sleds. I'm thinking about getting Samurai a prison inmate costume.

Can I Say Outfit?

September 22, 2009

I bought this little outfit for Max...well for the baby. He was so excited for a boy that I had to get some sort of sports outfit. I don't even know if I could say outfit anymore now that it is a boy. I really don't think that boys have outfits. Does anyone know the technical term for a string of clothes that belong together simultaneously, without saying outfit, that is suitable for boys? I feel that if you can say man purse, you should be able to say outfit.

Today we found out the sex of the baby, and it's a BOY! This poor baby will be exposed on this blog. I will try to explain where you can see that it is a boy. Check out the picture below:

So, this is the baby's profile. If you look to the top right of the picture, there is the butt profile. Then if you move your eyes down a little to the left, you will see a little surprise. Max made the poor ultrasound technician show him three different views. This one above is the best view.

Max: Are you sure it's a boy?

Ultrasound technician: Yes.

Max: How sure are you?

UT: 100% sure. There is the penis, and there is the scrotum sack.

Max: Can I have a picture of that?
UT: How about I give you two pictures: one for your wife and one for your wallet.
Max: That would be great!

Dreams and Gene Machines

September 20, 2009 - 19 Weeks 3 Days

Dreams
Tomorrow we find out the sex of the baby, hopefully. I keep having crazy dreams of what the sex will be. I always thought that dreaming would have been a sign of something, but it switches off every other night. I'll dream of having a girl, then a boy, then a girl, and then a boy. Last night, I had a dream that I went to my ultrasound, and one of Max's dermotologists was the doctor. Well, she pulled up the screen of the ultrasound and said, "I see a little penis." I woke up thinking that I was pregnant with a boy. Who knows?????

Gene Machines
Also, last night, Max and I went to Dave and Busters and we took one of those gene machine pictures. It takes both of our pictures and combines the features to see what our children would look like. This was hilarious!

This is what our daughter would look like:

This is what our son would look like:

Stomach Butterflies and Baby Practice

September 13, 2009

Stomach Butterflies:
So lately, I have been feeling the baby move around. It is becoming more and more prominent every day that goes by. It feels like there are butterflies in my lower stomach. I'm glad that the baby is moving, so I don't have to worry about waiting to listen to the heartbeat every time I go to the doctors. I have one week and one day to convince Max to find out the sex, but the decision is pretty much up to me. We do have our names picked out for both sexes; it is just a matter of whether we call the baby Luca/Luka or Olivia.

Baby Practice:
Last night, Max and I got up every three hours throughout the night. We wanted to see how it was going to be having a baby around, so we set the alarm for every three hours and tried to stay up for at least an hour. JUST KIDDING! The dog was our baby last night. He was not feeling good and woke us up every three hours to go to the bathroom. The poor dog had diarrhea all night.
