Teething Bites

Thursday, July 29, 2010

So, I thought it was just me, but apparently it's me and Max. I think Luca is trying to be sneaky spoiled. What I mean is that ever since he started getting his teeth, he wants to be held all of the time. He will cry until you pick him up. FYI, his teeth are already in. He will wake up from a dead sleep and scream until you go get him. Then if you try and rock him a little, he will fight it and get angrier. The only way to get him back to sleep is to lie him on your shoulder and give him his pacifier, which he has recently started using again after not having it for two months. I thought I was the only weak link in this house, but it looks like someone else has buckled at the knees. Wow! We are such suckers

Luca's First Zoo Experience

Monday, July 26, 2010

Today, we took our first trip to the zoo. Luca seemed to like the dolphins the best, because that was pretty much the only thing he stayed awake for. The rest of the time he slept. Oh well, at least he was good.

Luca and Giancarlo: New Buddies

Saturday, July 24, 2010

This weekend my friend, Maria, came in with her family to have her son Giancarlo's Christening. She had her baby one month after me, and this was the first time I met him. Luca and Giancarlo are so adorable together. They both are enormous babies. When Maria moves back to Illinois, I know that the two of them will be best buddies.

Eating Peas

Friday, July 23, 1010

Luca started eating solids when he turned four months old, but we only started with rice cereal just to get him used to eating. We then gave him carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes, which he loved all of them. Then, we moved on to the greens, which I heard most babies typically do not like...But not Luca. He loves peas and green beans. There is a video below showing him getting mad at me when I'm not quick at giving him his peas. Don't mind my voice!!!!

It's A Bird...It's A Plane...No It's Two Teeth: The DL At 6 Months

Friday, July 16, 2010

Today we had Luca's six month check-up. There was a lot of new discoveries during this appointment. My baby is getting bigger, and it is definitely bitter sweet. First off, Luca is a gigantic baby. He weighs 20.4 pounds and is in the 90% for weight. He is 29 inches long and off the charts for his height, which is above 95%. His head is average; it is 43 1/2 cm, which is 50%.

The doctor did point out that he is getting two bottom teeth, and you can clearly see where they are coming in.

Between now and nine months, we can start introducing some of our food that we are eating, like mashed potatoes, scrambled egg, bits of banana, etc. I don't know if I'm ready for him to be a big boy just yet and try all of those foods, but the doctor did say the more they explore with different foods the better :-(

Up to this point, we were in the clear with baby proofing our house. The doctor told us that it a good idea to start baby proofing, especially because Luca is scooting on his stomach. "GOODBYE my lovely house and HELLO obstacle course!"

Luca has also been sitting up on his own. He can only do it for a couple of seconds, and then he falls to one side. I either sit in front of him to catch him, or I put the boppy pillow behind him so he doesn't fall back and slam his head. The first picture below will be the last time you will see him in the Bumbo chair. His left thigh gets stuck!

Apparently Luca Had Fun Without Us :-(

Saturday, July 10, 2010

"When the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie that's AMORE! When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine that's AMORE!"

Luca went to Kenley's 1st birthday party with my parents, and by the look on his face, I think he had fun.
He definitely loves his walker too, which is by Max's parents.

A Fun Anniversary In Marco Island

Friday, July 9 to Monday, July 12, 2010

Max and I went to Marco Island for our 2nd anniversary. It was so relaxing that I can't wait for our next trip. We stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort, and it was super nice there. Our room was enormous, and our balcony was even better. Our balcony was the size of a tennis court; I couldn't believe it. Happy Anniversary Max!

These were our cocktail choices:
Those are jellyfish inside one of the restaurants at the Marriott:

This is a picture of our balcony and pictures from our balcony:

These are pictures from the Irish pub a couple of blocks from our hotel:

This was our anniversary dinner at Tara's, a steakhouse off of the channel.

On our way back to the airport, we stopped in Naples, went shopping, and took silly pics:
