It's A Bird...It's A Plane...No It's Two Teeth: The DL At 6 Months

Friday, July 16, 2010

Today we had Luca's six month check-up. There was a lot of new discoveries during this appointment. My baby is getting bigger, and it is definitely bitter sweet. First off, Luca is a gigantic baby. He weighs 20.4 pounds and is in the 90% for weight. He is 29 inches long and off the charts for his height, which is above 95%. His head is average; it is 43 1/2 cm, which is 50%.

The doctor did point out that he is getting two bottom teeth, and you can clearly see where they are coming in.

Between now and nine months, we can start introducing some of our food that we are eating, like mashed potatoes, scrambled egg, bits of banana, etc. I don't know if I'm ready for him to be a big boy just yet and try all of those foods, but the doctor did say the more they explore with different foods the better :-(

Up to this point, we were in the clear with baby proofing our house. The doctor told us that it a good idea to start baby proofing, especially because Luca is scooting on his stomach. "GOODBYE my lovely house and HELLO obstacle course!"

Luca has also been sitting up on his own. He can only do it for a couple of seconds, and then he falls to one side. I either sit in front of him to catch him, or I put the boppy pillow behind him so he doesn't fall back and slam his head. The first picture below will be the last time you will see him in the Bumbo chair. His left thigh gets stuck!
