Can I Say Outfit?

September 22, 2009

I bought this little outfit for Max...well for the baby. He was so excited for a boy that I had to get some sort of sports outfit. I don't even know if I could say outfit anymore now that it is a boy. I really don't think that boys have outfits. Does anyone know the technical term for a string of clothes that belong together simultaneously, without saying outfit, that is suitable for boys? I feel that if you can say man purse, you should be able to say outfit.

Today we found out the sex of the baby, and it's a BOY! This poor baby will be exposed on this blog. I will try to explain where you can see that it is a boy. Check out the picture below:

So, this is the baby's profile. If you look to the top right of the picture, there is the butt profile. Then if you move your eyes down a little to the left, you will see a little surprise. Max made the poor ultrasound technician show him three different views. This one above is the best view.

Max: Are you sure it's a boy?

Ultrasound technician: Yes.

Max: How sure are you?

UT: 100% sure. There is the penis, and there is the scrotum sack.

Max: Can I have a picture of that?
UT: How about I give you two pictures: one for your wife and one for your wallet.
Max: That would be great!

Dreams and Gene Machines

September 20, 2009 - 19 Weeks 3 Days

Dreams
Tomorrow we find out the sex of the baby, hopefully. I keep having crazy dreams of what the sex will be. I always thought that dreaming would have been a sign of something, but it switches off every other night. I'll dream of having a girl, then a boy, then a girl, and then a boy. Last night, I had a dream that I went to my ultrasound, and one of Max's dermotologists was the doctor. Well, she pulled up the screen of the ultrasound and said, "I see a little penis." I woke up thinking that I was pregnant with a boy. Who knows?????

Gene Machines
Also, last night, Max and I went to Dave and Busters and we took one of those gene machine pictures. It takes both of our pictures and combines the features to see what our children would look like. This was hilarious!

This is what our daughter would look like:

This is what our son would look like:

Stomach Butterflies and Baby Practice

September 13, 2009

Stomach Butterflies:
So lately, I have been feeling the baby move around. It is becoming more and more prominent every day that goes by. It feels like there are butterflies in my lower stomach. I'm glad that the baby is moving, so I don't have to worry about waiting to listen to the heartbeat every time I go to the doctors. I have one week and one day to convince Max to find out the sex, but the decision is pretty much up to me. We do have our names picked out for both sexes; it is just a matter of whether we call the baby Luca/Luka or Olivia.

Baby Practice:
Last night, Max and I got up every three hours throughout the night. We wanted to see how it was going to be having a baby around, so we set the alarm for every three hours and tried to stay up for at least an hour. JUST KIDDING! The dog was our baby last night. He was not feeling good and woke us up every three hours to go to the bathroom. The poor dog had diarrhea all night.

Shot Out to Max...Maybe?

I went to my check up today; or better yet, I went to donate blood. Today, they took about four viles of blood for different tests they have to run...it's procedure...I guess. They weighed me, and I only gained two pounds since the beginning of my pregnancy. I look like I gained twenty-two though. From the morning sickness and food aversions in the first trimester, I lost four pounds. They did tell me that my next appointment, in three weeks, will be an ultrasound. If the baby cooperates and has his or her legs open, they will tell us the sex. They told me to eat and drink before I come so that the baby moves around a lot, and we will be able to find out. I think that I finally convinced Max to let me know the sex, obviously he will too.

It's Time For Maternity Clothes

August 23, 2009 - 15 Weeks 2 Days

So, for a while, I was definitely in denial about maternity clothes. I wanted to get as much time with my regular clothes as possible, but this week, I am making the transition. Maybe it's hormonal, but when I held up the pants with the stretchy band instead of the pants with the button and zipper, I was depressed. I know that I am suppose to be getting bigger, but it was just a little reality shock. I am really happy, though, that Forever 21 is in business, because their clothes are long, big, and cute.

I Just Want To Know

August 19, 2009

Max has been out of town for the past six days, because he went to LA for work meetings and to visit with his friend Jason. I picked him up from the airport today, and the first thing he said to me, I'm sorry the second thing he said to me was, "I really don't want to find out the sex of the baby."

So the whole ride home from the airport was:

Me: I do.

Max: I don't.

Me: I really do.

Max: I really don't.

Me: How about I find out and don't tell you?

Max: I don't think so.

The outcome = TBA

First OBGYN Appointment

August 10, 2009 - 13 Weeks 3 Days

Today, I had my first appointment with the OBGYN. It was kind of weird because I was used to going to the specialist and getting an ultrasound every time I went. At this appointment, we were going to hear the heartbeat and get a couple of standard tests. Well, Max came with me, and we got to hear the heartbeat. At first, we couldn't hear it, which freaked us out, but then she found it. The heart was beating about 135 beats per minute.

FUN LITTLE TALE: There is an old wives tale about the heartbeat from the What To Expect When Your'e Expecting, and it states that 140 heartbeats per minute or less means it's a boy, and 140 heartbeats per minute or more means it's a girl.

KELLY'S OPINION: GIRL

MAX'S OPINION: BOY

We'll see who is right. We are still up in the air about finding out the sex. My mind changes every day, and Max still does not want to find out. We have about six more weeks to make up our mind.

Do you have trouble getting your dog to come inside? Here is a crucial step by step guide into getting the dog inside.

1. Yell for the dog to come inside.

2. When the reluctant dog won't come in, it is time to weigh your options.

3. Time to yell louder and hit the door to at least produce a reaction.

4. When all else fails, bribe the dog with cheese.

Samurai's (Sixth) Sense or Just One of the Five

August 1, 2009

So dogs have great hearing, and not only can they hear well, they can pinpoint the exact location. Dogs can collect sounds that are four times that of a human. Anyways, I don't want to bore anyone with facts, but I think that Samurai has found the location of the baby. Every night before I go to bed I lie on the family room carpet and pet Samurai. So one night as I was petting him, he got up quickly, put his head by my stomach, and stared at it for about one minute. It was so weird. I don't know if he actually heard anything, but both Max and I were watching him thinking that is what he found. He hasn't done it since that night!!!
