The Story Of My Life: Luca At 6 Weeks
Thursday, February 25, 2010
Luca is 6 weeks old today, and he definitely has changed. First of all, he has outgrown all of his newborn clothing, and he is now in 0 - 3 month clothing. That is not the only thing that has changed...he now does not want to be put down. He constantly wants to be held, and if you put him down, he immediately starts to cry. The pictures below explain "The Story Of My Life". Notice that he is very peaceful when someone is holding him. When he is not being held, the tears start flowing. On a positive note, we are starting to get him on a schedule. We put him down now at 10:00 p.m. for the night, and he will sleep until 2:30 a.m. - 3:00 a.m., which is nice to get 4 - 5 hours of consecutive sleep. I just hope it sticks!

Luca, Ella, and Maxton
Sunday, February 21, 2010
Today, we had a play date with Ella and Maxton Vavrek. Ella is three and Maxton is three months. They are so cute. Luca had no idea, because he slept the entire time. I think the play date is more for us to socialize...obviously.

Happy Valentine's Day AND One Month Old...Already?
Sunday, February 14, 2010
First off...Happy Valentine's Day! Today, Luca is one month old. I can't believe how fast it went by. He grew so much within the past month. When he was born, he weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces, and he was 20 inches long. Then, when we left the hospital, he was obviously still 20 inches long, but he lost weight. He left the hospital weighing only 6 pounds 11 ounces. On Friday, we took him to his one month appointment, and he definitely grew a lot, which we knew, because we had pack some of his clothes away already. He now weighs 9 pounds 4 ounces, and he is 22 inches long. He is in the 38 percentile for his weight and 72 percentile for his height. Some of his clothes are still newborn clothing, but now he can fit in 0 - 3 month clothing.
It is hard to get pictures of him smiling, because he is not at the point where you can make him smile. He smiles randomly. As I was taking his one month pictures, I did get one of him smiling, and it is showing one of his dimples. It is the last picture on this post, but it may be a little blurry, because he moved as I was taking it.

Funny Story
Tuesday, February 9, 2010
My dog is hilarious. If you don't know Samurai, he is a very independent, loving, docile dog. As soon as I let him inside from playing outside, he immediately goes to the baby, sniffs the baby, and then lies two feet from the baby. Well, I was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and I let him inside. He ran downstairs to the family room where the baby was. I continued to cook dinner, and I heard a little dog whimper. I didn't pay any attention, because he does that from time to time. Well five minutes go by, and Samurai started to whimper again, and he wouldn't stop. So I went to the stairs, and I noticed that he was stuck to the swing. Somehow his collar got caught on the rattle connected to the swing. The swing was on, moving side to side. Every time it went from side to side, it hit him in the face. Poor dog! He sat there getting hit in the face for five minutes. I was laughing so hard. I took this picture after I shut the swing off. I wish I got it on video camera; I could've sent it to America's Funniest Videos.

LIL LINEBACKER
Sunday, February 7, 2010
Max and I dressed Luca up in a Bear's uniform in honor of the superbowl in which the Bears took no part of. He must have been giving us a sign, because as soon as we put his Bear's uniform on, he threw up all over it. So, we had to take it off, wash, and dry it, so he could wear it the rest of the day. He looked like a little linebacker.

How Long Does This "No Sleep" Business Last?
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
So, I can't believe that the baby will be three weeks tomorrow. It has been three weeks of no sleep. I totally did not think that getting "no sleep" would be that hard. I definitely think that is the hardest part about having an infant. During the day, he's awesome. He could go three to four hours without waking up, but during the night, he wakes up about every two and a half hours. What is that about? When will he switch his days and nights? How much longer will he stay this way? UGH! Anyways, it's all good, because he's totally worth it, and look at how cute he is. Look at the pictures below. Look at how peaceful he looks. Um...Yeah those were taken at about noon. He doesn't look that peaceful at 4:00 in the morning. His eyes are usually wide open, and he's ready to play. There are also pictures of the dog resting throughout the day, because the baby keeps him up at night. It's so funny because Samurai wakes up when I do to check on the baby. He sits in the baby's room with me while I feed him and put him back to bed. Samurai is Luca's second mom. Somebody definitely told Samurai to sleep when the baby sleeps.
